Xbox One, Xbox Live Go Down in Black Week for Microsoft

Microsoft has a hard time keeping its services up and running, and after Office 365 went down twice in the last week, the company now has to deal with another outage hitting Xbox One and Xbox Live.

A number of Xbox One users reported black screens when turning on the gaming console, and Microsoft confirmed in a tweet that it’s aware some devices no longer booted to the main screen.

“We are aware of reports of Xbox One console startup, title update and sign-in errors. We will keep everyone informed once we have more information to share. Thank you all for your patience,” the company said in its tweet.

“Additionally, if you’re running into issues attempting to view our status page, teams are actively investigating this as well. Thank you for your ongoing patience, we’ll update here when there’s more to provide,” it later added, confirming a problem with Xbox Live as well.

Download service still down

A few hours ago, Microsoft announced on Twitter that these problems have been resolved, only to come back shortly after that to confirm another bug breaking down downloads on Xbox One.

“The issues surrounding Xbox One console startup, sign-in, title update errors, and our status page have now been resolved. Thank you for sticking with us while our teams addressed these issues and we appreciate the reports,” it said. “Running into issues downloading and installing content on Xbox One? We see your reports and have the proper teams on it. We will share updates as they become available to us.”

At the time of writing this article, the Xbox Live Status page signals issues with downloading items that you have already purchased, and Microsoft is reportedly investigating the problem already.

No ETA has been provided, but further updates will be published on the same status page. All the other services are working normally, and we’re no longer seeing any reports of Xbox One consoles not being able to start, as the black screen issues have been fixed.
