Borderlands 3 Anniversary Celebration Continues with “Show Me the Eridium” Week

Gearbox continues the Borderlands 3 anniversary celebration with a new weekly event that involves a ridiculous amount of Eridium. Dubbed “Show Me the Eridium,” the event will kick off after a quick micropatch deployed by or before 3:00 PM PDT on Tuesday, October 15.

If you’re not sure when exactly is that for your time zone, don’t worry as you’ll receive an in-game notification if you’re playing while the micropatch goes live. You’ll have to hang around the main menu for a minute or two while you’re online to be sure that you can take advantage of the new bonuses.

Beginning tomorrow, October 15, Eridium will start popping up all over the place in the game. Now, if you don’t want to hoard the strange resource, you can exchange it for cosmetic items and Anointed weapons at Crazy Earl, the NPC that prizes the ancient purple element above all else.

For the duration of the event, probably a full week, Eridium drops will be added to standard enemies, along with increased Eridium drops in Mayhem Mode, discounted Eridium costs to use Moxxi’s Vault Line slot machine, and a discount on all the coveted items at Crazy Earl’s hideout in the Cargo Bay of Sanctuary III.

For newcomers to the game, Crazy Earl is the only vendor who deals in Eridium, the special currency earned exclusively through gameplay. He offers a wide range of cosmetic items, including Vault Hunter Heads and Skins, Emotes, ECHO themes, Trinkets, Weapon Skins, and Room Decorations.

Moreover, his custom-built Veteran Rewards vending machine trades Anointed weapons in exchange for Eridium. Anointed gear is very powerful thanks to its ability to improve Action Skills in a way that may or may not be specific to one Vault Hunter.

The next Borderland 3 anniversary event will start on October 22 and is called Mayhem on Twitch, but details about the event will be revealed on Monday, October 21.
