Apple Will Have an iPhone for Everyone with Five-Model 2020 Lineup

Buying an iPhone in late 2020 is likely to get a lot more complicated, as Apple wants to expand the smartphone lineup to no less than five different models.

This is according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities, who already has a good track on Apple scoops.

Kuo says the 2020 iPhone generation will include a total of five configurations, as it follows.

2020 iPhone lineup

First of all, it’s the iPhone SE 2 the one that will see daylight in the spring. Based on the iPhone 8, the second-generation iPhone SE will come with a 4.7-inch LCD display and feature a single-lens rear camera, obviously without 5G support.

Then, it’s the fall of 2020 iPhone lineup that will come with four models.

Apple will launch an all-new 5.4-inch iPhone 12 model that will feature an OLED display and 5G support. The device will be equipped with a dual-lens rear camera and will obviously run on the latest-generation Apple Bionic chip.

Then, there are two different 6.1-inch iPhone models, one of which will be a direct successor to the existing iPhone 11. It will feature an OLED screen, as Apple is making the switch from LCD to this display tech, and come with 5G and a dual-lens camera. The second is an upgraded iPhone 11 Pro presumably called iPhone 12 Pro and boasting 5G, OLED, and a triple-camera configuration.

The top-of-the-range model will be a 6.7-inch iPhone that’s likely to be called iPhone 12 Pro Max and have the same tech specs as the 6.1-inch Pro model. It would also use an OLED panel and integrate a triple-lens rear camera. 5G support will also be available.

The four 5G iPhones will use a Qualcomm X55 modem, as part of the licensing deal that Apple signed with the San Diego-based chipmaker earlier this year.

Apple is obviously yet to confirm the details here, so it remains to be seen if this is indeed the 2020 iPhone lineup that the company is indeed planning to bring to the market next year.
