Beat the Hell Out of Historical and Literary Characters in Bookbound Brigade

Bookbound Brigade is a weird mix of 2D side-scrolling platform-adventure and tactics. The game developed by Digital Tales is a new spin on the Metroidvania genre and will be released digitally at the end of the month.

The premise of the game is that the Book of Books has disappeared and if destroyed, the Literary World will blink out of existence. Your job is to assemble a party of eight famous heroes and find the Book of Books before the thief destroys it.

Your party of misfits will include the likes of Dracula, King Arthur, Queen Victoria, Nikola Tesla, Cassandra, Dorothy Gale, Sun Wukong the Monkey King and Robin Hood, the only characters able to adventure into a world plunged into chaos following the theft of the Book of Books, the item that encompasses every single work of fiction and non-fiction ever written.

Bookbound Brigade is scripted by British comedy writer Dean Wilkinson, known for his work in Little Big Planet. As the title says, the game is about beating the hell out of historical and literary characters you studied in school by leading a team of real and fictional heroes like the ones mentioned above.

Digital Tales’ upcoming title features 2D side-scrolling graphics and lets players explore, fight, backtrack, grow their skills and tackle challenging quests and puzzles across 5 varied worlds – from the Tower of Babel to Victorian London, passing by the lost city of R’lyeh, home to ancient god Cthulhu.

You won’t be adventuring alone in any one of the five worlds in the game. Instead, you will play as a party of 8 unique characters, each with their own traits and skills affecting behavior. To successfully navigate the environments, you will need to choose the right Brigade formation: standard, line, column or wheel.

Bookbound Brigade launches digitally on 30 January for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC, retailing at $19.99 USD / €19.99 EU / £17.99 UK / $30.00 AUD.
