Riot Announces Legends of Runeterra Open Beta Starts on January 24

Riot Games is hard at work to bring new games to its fans, different from what they’re used to. After launching Team Fight Tactics, an auto-battle game, Riot is readying its card game introduced last year, Legends of Runeterra.

The game was briefly playable last year after the official announcement and will become playable again starting next week. Riot confirmed that Legends of Runeterra open beta stars on PC on January 24, but players who pre-register until January 19 or those who played during the preview patches will gain access one day earlier.

Everyone who plays in the open beta will receive an exclusive Moonstruck Poro Guardian once Legends of Runeterra fully launches. In order to redeem this exclusive variant of the Poro Guardian, you’ll need to login once during beta or within seven days after Legends of Runeterra launches.

One important thing worth mentioning is that Riot did reset all accounts played during the preview patches, but there will be no further account resets going forward, so anything that players earn during the open beta will be theirs to keep.

A couple of new changes have been implemented since the preview version of the game, such as new Ranked mode, three new guardians and six new board the can be used to customize gameplay, as well as a social panel and friend challenge feature. Also, more than 20 cards have been updated, including a major one to Anivia.

Riot announced that a host of changes to the overall economy of the game have been implemented, which are expected to impact everything from the cost of coins to how much experience players receive from wins.

Keep in mind that if you spent money during the preview patches, the content purchased with coins has been reset and you’ll be returned the value back to your coin balance. However, the exact number of coins has changed due to the economy changes done by Riot.
