Story-Driven Open-World Cloudpunk Is Coming to Consoles in 2020

Cloudpunk is an open-world, story-driven game previously announced for PC. If you like games like Firewatch and Kentucky Route Zero, but with a cyberpunk twist, you’ll be happy to know that publisher Merge Games and developer ION LANDS will release Cloudpunk on consoles as well.

While we don’t have a release date beyond “later this year,” we do know Cloudpunk will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in addition to PC. ION LANDS prides itself with amassing no less than 85,000 wishlists on Steam, so don’t forget to do that as well if the game piqued your interest.

In Cloudpunk, you play as Rania, a woman working for a semi-legal delivery company based in the open-world city of Nivalis. Cloudpunk fully embraces the cyberpunk theme, so expect futuristic landscapes and an art style to support it.

The game combines exploration with narrative to offer players a compelling take on the cyberpunk genre, so if you’re into this stuff, you’ll probably going to love Cloudpunk. It’s also worth noting that the game is filled with characters that Rania will meet throughout her adventure, alongside a wide array of stories to discover as she explores the neon-streaked world of Nivalis.

Speaking of exploration, Rania can roam the vertical landscapes of Nivalis that reach high into the clouds and deep down through the ocean waves below. Androids, AI, and unscrupulous humans are just a few of the NPCs that Rania will meet in the game.

Cloudpunk is filled with hidden places and items that will unlock additional stories. Also, many of Rania’s decisions will have a lasting impact on the inhabitants of Nivalis, so treat carefully. On paper, Cloudpunk sounds great, so we’ll just have to keep an eye out for this one. We’ll let you know when exactly you’ll be able to play it.
